Man arrested for DUI after hurting pedestrians taking in Holiday Lights
In Alhambra in late December, Los Angeles resident Ismael Soto was arrested for suspected DUI after being involved in an accident with two vehicles that injured 13 people. Around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night, Soto was driving a vehicle that hit two parked cars which then struck onlookers who were taking in the Christmas lights within an Alhambra neighborhood. According to eyewitness reports, Soto was driving a truck when he crossed over a solid yellow line and collided with two parked vehicles, which were occupied. The vehicles then struck a group of pedestrians who were standing on the sidewalk watching the Christmas lights.
Ismael Soto is being held at $130,000 bail and is due in court on Wednesday. Soto’s license had been revoked since November of 2013. He had his license suspended for driving with a suspended license and driving with a BAC of over .08.
11 of the 13 victims involved were taken to the hospital and one remains in intensive care.
